The meditation cushion is the most important aid in meditation practice. So you can sit comfortably and upright for a long time. The robust cover made of canvas fabrics is provided with a practical strap, removable and therefore washable. The hidden zipper is almost invisible. The inner cushion is filled with polystyrene beads or spelled fur.

Yoga bolsters are also classic yoga aids as a comfortable and stabilizing base for many asanas. Here, too, the cover is removable and has a hidden zipper and a strap.

Sew your new yoga pillow out of your favorite fabrics! Of course, the cushions can also be used as normal floor seat cushions.

The information on the material serves as a rough guide. The pattern pieces can be arranged side by side or one below the other depending on the width of the fabric. Then more or less material must be available accordingly. The fabric consumption refers to a fabric width of 140 cm.

When cutting, pay attention to the thread path and, if necessary, the pattern direction. After cutting, sew all the cut pieces.

That’s how it works:

meditation cushions

Take the cut piece for the handle and fold it lengthways, right to right. Sew it together along the long edge. Then you iron the seam allowances apart.

Turn the handle, place the seam on the middle and iron it.

Thread the slider onto the endless zipper . Place the zipper on the right side on the “side part below” (the caterpillar and the slider look down), fix it and sew it on. Use the zipper foot of your sewing machine for this. Then you flip the zipper up, iron the fabric edge and stitch a narrow-edged seam here.

Now you put the cut part “side part up” right to right on the remaining edge of the zipper and sew it on. When you get to the slider, lower the needle, raise your foot and gently pull the slider past the needle. Lower your foot again and continue sewing.

Now fold the “side part up” and iron the edge. Mark the fabric at a distance of 2 cm from the zipper edge and fold the side part backwards. Here you have to work exactly. The fabric edge must have a width of 2 cm along the entire length. Carefully iron the edge.

Now flip the edge over the zipper. This should now be completely covered. Fix the fold with needles so that everything stays in place. Steppe along the fold. Feel under the fabric where the zipper is and guide the zipper foot along it. When you get to the slider, lower the needle, raise your foot and gently pull the slider past the needle. Lower your foot again and continue sewing.

Feel under the fabric where the zipper is and guide the zipper foot along it.

Place the “RV end piece” pattern right to right on an edge of the side part with zip and stitch it. Open it up so that the beautiful fabric side looks at you, and fix the remaining edge of the second edge of the side part.

Now fix the handle on the left to the right (the side with the seam is at the bottom) and in the middle on the zip end piece and sew it tightly with an auxiliary seam.

Now you quarter the long stretches of the side part and the top and bottom. Mark these positions with needles.

Pin the side part right to right on the top. The markings previously set meet exactly. This way you can distribute the fabric evenly when stuck. Sew the two parts together. The side part is at the top when sewing. Now open the zipper.

Sew the underside to the side part as well and turn the finished outer cushion through the opened zipper.

The inner cushion is sewn in the same way. Put the side panel right to right and sew the short edge. Fix the top and bottom of the pillow made of lining to the side part and sew them tight. You must leave a sufficiently large turning opening on the top or bottom. Turn the inner pillow and fill the filling material into it. It is best to have a second person help you. It is particularly helpful if you make a funnel out of a sheet of paper for filling. Fill the pillow three-quarters with the filling material. Here you can individually set the strength of the pillow as desired.

TIP: If you use EPS beads as filler, fill the pillow in the bath or shower. This way, the pearls are not distributed throughout the room and you can quickly vacuum away those that have gone wrong with the vacuum cleaner.

Now you close the wall and fill opening with a close-edged seam. Then you put it in the outer cushion, close the zipper and …

… your meditation cushion is ready!

Now fix the handle on the left to the right (the side with the seam is at the bottom) and in the middle on a “side part C” and sew it tightly with an auxiliary seam. Then place the “side part C” with the handle on the right on the right on the side part with the zipper and sew it tight. You sew the second “side part C” in the same way on the other side of the side part with a zipper.

Now place the “side part A / inner cushion” made of outer fabric right to right on the edges of the “side parts C” and sew it tight. A ring is created that forms the later sides of the pillow. Iron all seam allowances apart.

Fix the cut part for the top right to right on the side part, the corners meet each other exactly. Now sew the top all around to the side part. Open the zipper and sew the bottom of the pillow in the same way.

Flip the outer cushion through the zipper and shape the corners.

Now take the cut parts of the inner cushion made of lining material to hand. Fix the “side panels C” right to right on the “side panel A / inner cushion” and sew them tight. On the remaining edges of the “side panels C” you now place the second “side panel A / inner cushion” on the right and right and sew it in place as well.

Now the top and bottom are sewn to the side part as with the outer pillow. Leave a turning and filling opening on one of the short edges (see picture on the left). Turn the inner pillow.

Fill the filling material into the inner cushion. It is best to have a second person help you. It is particularly helpful if you make a funnel out of a sheet of paper for filling. Fill the pillow three-quarters with the filling material. Here you can individually set the strength of the pillow as desired. Now close the turning opening with a close-edged seam.

Put the inside and outside pillow, close the zipper and …
